LifeBrite Health Services of Magee, Mississippi has announced its Quality Award recipients for the 3rd quarter of 2014. The announcement came from Chris Chandler, Patient Hospital Services Director. LifeBrite Community Hospital of Early was the only LifeBrite facility to receive the award this quarter.
Hospital Administrator Allen Gamble stated, “I am proud of every employee, as it takes a team effort to meet the challenges and attain this level of excellence every day.” To receive this award a hospital must have top scores on 210 clinical and operational criteria. In this case, one of the more important accomplishments is that the hospital scored 100% on the “core measures” that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services track to insure quality care. Kara Fenn, RN, Quality Improvement Nurse at the facility stated “the Federal Government monitors the core measures to insure that hospitals are providing quality care to patients that they serve.” For example proper antibiotics should be provided with 24 hours for pneumonia patients. Fenn explained that they use these numbers to compare hospitals across the nation. Gamble added, “LifeBrite Community Hospital of Early certainly ranks at the top!”
Some examples of the important items that are graded include how quickly an Emergency patient is seen by a Medical Provider, is the food temperature within acceptable ranges, are proper tests ordered for certain symptoms, is the proper paper work complete and timely, are safety checks performed monthly and are medications given timely. Other items that are reviewed measure patient satisfaction, employee satisfaction, and physician satisfaction. The hospital has ranked at the top in most of these categories.
At a Department Directors meeting on October 31, Gamble congratulated his Managers. “Please express my sincere thanks to all your employees. Remind them that they are the reason that such high quality care is provided here.” Gamble also stated that “I am confident that we can continue this level of quality care into the coming quarters.” Gamble will also thank his Medical Staff for their part in this accomplishment at the next Medical Staff meeting. LifeBrite Community Hospital of Early currently has 12 Attending Staff Providers, including Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and Physician’s Assistants. Gamble hopes that everyone who has received this high level of quality care will also join in thanking the Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants, as well as all the hospital staff for their hard work and dedication.
